Eden in June

June nears, and in the beginning was Eden ...

C4's next concert happens on June 2 and June 4; it's called "One Foot in Eden", after the sumptuous piece by Nicholas Maw for double choir and soloists ... All the music concerns itself with Nature or the Seasons. Since this is just a quick blog post, I'll point you to C4's website, http://c4ensemble.org/, for further details ...

Meanwhile, we are working on the thousands of details that make a concert happen: not just the learning of the music and the forging of it into something more meaningful than marks on a page, but also the larger sense of Invitation. We want to share this music with you. So we are working on publicity. We are working on mailing lists. We are having our pictures taken. And we are getting the word out that there is more new choral music out there than even we imagined, and we would love to share it with you.

More details soon; after this photo shoot on Sunday (keep fingers crossed that the weather holds), Your Faithful Blogger will even be able to post photographs of the group on the blog, and on Facebook! Search for us there under "C4"; we'll be waiting.

The poetry on which it's based is by Shelley, and the music is appropriately lush but ethereal ...

Sunday the 23rd of January, you (and C4) can see and hear the results, at 7:00 p.m., at the Medicine Show Theatre, 549 West 52 St., New York, NY 10019. Call for information and reservations: 212 262-4216 ...
